Homework Club
After School Program
The After School Program (ASP) runs during the school year at Morning Star MS, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, from 3:00 to 6:00pm. The program is for youth in Grades 6-8 and has these three elements to improve the health and wellness of youth:
- Physical activity (wide variety of sports and recreation)
- Health food choices and nutrition education (free snacks)
- Wellness and personal health education (special workshops and guest speakers)
Educational and Employment Counseling Support
The YC provides individual supportive and informal counselling services to help youth ages 12 to 25 manage personal relationships, set goals, and make self-identified life decisions. We provide a safe space for youth to converse about personal and social issues including: bullying, family problems, education, and employment-related concerns. The YC is able to support youth in finding summer and part-time jobs, and/or volunteer work. Youth can get help preparing for job interviews, with resume/cover letter writing, and skills/career development.
