As an agency within Peel Region that supports our Ontario Works’ clients and community, we are providing an update regarding upcoming changes to employment services at the Region of Peel.
In 2019, the provincial government announced its plan to modernize Ontario’s employment services by creating a new service delivery model that integrates social assistance employment services into Employment Ontario.
Effective January 1, 2021, our service delivery will shift from employment services support to life stabilization support (i.e. counselling, housing barriers, literacy, health etc.).
What does this mean?
- Ontario Works clients and community members requiring employment services support and benefits will need to connect with their local Employment Ontario
- There may be changes to the level and type of participation benefits issued to eligible Ontario Works clients.
- Client benefits related to participation in life stabilization activities will be issued by Ontario Works.
What’s Next?
With this new endeavour, we look forward to continued engagement and collaboration with agencies we have partnered with in the past. We also look forward to building new partnerships as we transition to an enhanced Life Stabilization Strategy.
